Sustainability is ultimately about choosing to be responsible... in a way that can ignite people's passion.
Can we find passion and meaning in responsibility?
People value growth. But sometimes we focus on growth too narrowly. Ironically, more often than not, the success of what we do is also what gets humanity into trouble.
Just picture being a beverage company, a cement company, or a chemical company 70 years ago. We were providing people with a sweet drinkable treat. We were supplying building materials essential for post-war reconstruction. We were making powerful agents available for applications across a wide spectrum of industries.
But since, the world has changed. Our products are now relied upon so extensively they have practically become an institution. And with the consequences of growth - the overconsumption of sugar, the overreliance on agrochemicals - comes great human challenges, such as diabetes, or soil depletion/desertification to name a few.
Growth is only truly rewarding, when it occurs constructively. But unintended consequences, sometimes called 'industry externalities', tend to reveal themselves only with time.
In today's world, there are many sustainability voices that seek to mobilize change through alarmist speech or even casting blame. At AGCTI, we believe that necessity is more compelling than urgency. People who find their reason to care are naturally driven to take responsibility beyond a narrow scope of performance or growth. Embracing a sense of responsibility is different from compliance, because we pursue sustainability by choice. And that choice is the key to unlocking passion and meaning.
Cultivating purpose, and growing trust
At the heart of AGCTI’s philosophy is the cultivation of purpose and trust. Our programs are like a toolkit, arming individuals with purpose-driven strategies and the trust-building skills needed to succeed. This strengthens relationships with stakeholders and enhances the impact of any initiative.
Maintaining continuity through change
We believe that sustainability work can only truly be impactful when there is a long-term commitment to important goals. This ensures that change contributes to growth and enhancement rather than disruption. Therefore, we help organizations maintain a continuous thread of purpose and identity even amidst change.
Navigating with integrity
A truly principled approach means approaching hurdles and obstacles in ways that help identify new potential solutions while maintaining integrity. By leading by example, adaptive game-changers inspire trust and open up constructive pathways that can build on the unique heritage worth preserving.
Working with human side, not just technical solutions
Recognizing that change is inherently human-centric, AGCTI emphasizes the importance of adaptive change processes that engage the human aspects of organizations. This involves supporting individuals and teams as they navigate the complexities of sustainability transitions.
Focusing on capability-building outcomes
Adaptive challenges is more about building capability, than increasing utility/resource capacity. Such outcomes are not as readily defined as, for instance, inputs, activities, or outputs. And yet they are important because they help all stakeholders see the actual progress that is being made, both in terms of cultural change and delivering real impact for clients and communities.
The AGC framework
All the AGC programs are based on a comprehensive framework for working with sustainability in a way that helps people find passion and meaning in responsibility. These learning modules help participants develop the ability to guide and facilitate collective sensemaking, build strong teams around purpose, and root new mindsets and practices into the culture by growing trust.

This unique blend between theory and insights from real practice ensures content that can greatly complement more technically-oriented sustainability training.
